Chilled Education turns 15

Launched by the Chilled Food Association in September 2011 to tackle a skills gap in the chilled food sector, our Chilled Education programme has grown into a trusted, award-winning hub connecting classrooms with industry across the UK – recognised three times at the FDF Awards for Education Initiative, most recently praised by judges as ‘breathtakingly brilliant’.

Over 15 years, Chilled Education has helped thousands of students and teachers put food science centre stage – from free lesson plans for Key Stages 1-4 and CFA’s MicroTrumps card game, to more than 100 Store Cupboard Science experiments and over 55 career profiles showcasing real-life pathways into chilled food.

Partnerships with organisations including the British Nutrition Foundation, Countryside Classroom, the Food Teachers Centre, Young Enterprise and the Association for Science Education have extended its reach into schools and colleges nationwide.

We’re marking the anniversary year by collecting stories from the people who have made Chilled Education what it is: teachers who have used our resources, students who have taken part in sessions or gone on to careers in food, and industry colleagues who have shared their expertise and career journeys.
