With this year’s day declared the ‘biggest and best ever’, and over 3,000 visitors to the University of Northampton site, Charlotte was kept busy on the CEd stand. She demonstrated resources including the pressure experiment using marshmallows and plastic syringes, tested handwashing skills and talked about careers in chilled. Feedback from the organisers, and the schools attending, was overwhelmingly positive and summed up by organisers in four words: “Wow! What a day!”
They went on to say: “We are so pleased to have been able to highlight all of your area of work, the businesses and careers available to children and young people of Northamptonshire in such a positive way.” They received a lot of enquiries about attending careers fairs after the event.
Northants College also welcomed Charlotte to present to sessions of 40+ science and forensic science students. The latter group, as Charlotte explains, are especially relevant: “Working in chilled food production might not necessarily spark thoughts of CSI! However, there is a lot of detection work, analytic thinking and problem solving in the sector, as the students discovered.”
